Rich Hancock's Testimony

I am a radio broadcaster who God was kind enough to show His wonderful mercy and forgiveness to when I was 62 years old. When I was 30 years old I had prayed a "sinners prayer" as outlined in a religious tract and set out to live the Christian life as I understood it at that time. The best way to describe my religious life can be found in Romans 10:2-3 "For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God." Eventually I failed in my personal life and drifted away from that kind of religious life.

Then when I was 62 years old God by His sovereign grace called me to Himself. I was working at a radio station in Fort Dodge, Iowa. One weekend when returning to my home in Missouri I noticed a sign on the side of a farm field that read "Prepare to meet thy God." I thought at that moment that I was getting older and would be facing death and I needed to "get things right with God." Shortly after that God showed me that only Jesus could "make me right with God."

I was led to read in the Bible Deuteronomy 30:6 "And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live." God was showing me the work He was going to perform in my heart.

I was also led to read Ezekiel 11:19 "And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:" God was showing me only He could change my heart and he would.

On November 19,2006 I read Isaiah 53:5 "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

God revealed to me only trusting Jesus Christ's sacrifice for my sins and His taking the punishment for my sins could make me acceptable before God. I understood then that I had absolutely nothing to offer God. My only hope was Jesus. Only the merit of Christ and His sacrifice for my sins could save me from my awful sins and pride. Faith in Him was my only hope. That is when God was loving enough to lead me to put my faith in Christ alone.

I invite you to ask God to do "heart surgery" on your heart. Only He can bring us to Jesus and only He can save us from our sins and wrath to come.

I would like to share with you all the Bible verses God led me to read back in 2006 that revealed His will for  my life.

10-12-06 Fort Dodge, Iowa:

Deuteronomy 30:6 (KJV)  And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

Ezekiel 11:19 (KJV)  And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

Jeremiah 18:1-6 (KJV)  The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

11-19-06 Fort Dodge, Iowa:

Isaiah 53:5 (KJV)  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Malachi 3:16-18 (KJV)  Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
